There was an interesting discussion the other day with a Fashion group in Shanghai I’m part of.
It all started with the interesting anti-fashion article from The Marginalist and it went from our responsibility as consumers to what the brands have done about it and the green initiatives we should be pushing to grow.
I’ve always said every action counts no matter how small it can be. Since I arrived to Shanghai I found a strong focus on reuse, recycle, reinvent clothes. So this time I’m sharing with you ideas you can apply to make a change in your community, school, country… the more the merrier

Hace unos días hubo una discusión muy interesante sobre el artículo anti Fashion de la blogger The Marginalist que hablaba sobre la responsabilidad que tenemos como consumidores así como las acciones que han generado las marcas y las iniciativas sustentables que deberíamos de estar empujando para que crezcan.
Siempre he dicho que cada acción cuenta no importa qué tan pequeña sea. Desde que llegue a Shanghai me encontré con muchas actividades relacionadas con reusar, reciclar y reinventar ropa. En esta ocasión les comparto ideas que pueden implementar para generar un cambio en su comunidad, escuela, país…entre más seamos mejor!

前几天我跟一个上海时装小组的成员们讨论了很有趣的一个话题。这一切都从The Marginalist杂志上的一篇反时尚文章开始的，现在是我们消费者的责任去知道什么品牌做到了天然环保，我们应该推动绿色环保倡议。
我总说每一次小行动都很重要，不管有多小。自从我来上海之后，我在环保的路上重点关注再利用，再循环，再造服装。所以这次博客，我将与你们分享一些小点子来改变你们的社区，学校，国家…越多越好
Second hand shops.
Many people have the idea that buying second hand items might include hygiene factors, or maybe they are in terrible conditions and so on (I have to be honest, I used to think that too) but there are few shops like Pawnstar in China that have taught me how careful and transparent they are with their customers. A plus is that they offer tons of options, from clothes to accessories and shoes. They focus mainly on premium brands which of course I´m already craving to have.

Tiendas de segunda mano
Mucha gente tiene la idea de que comprar artículos de segunda mano desconfía por temas de higiene o por qué las prendas no estén en buenas condiciones (tengo que ser honesta, yo era una de ellas) pero hay algunas tiendas como Pawnstar aquí en Shanghai que me han mostrado el cuidado y la trasparencia que tienen con sus clientes. Adicionalmente ofrecen todo tipo de productos, desde accesorios hasta zapatos enfocándose principalmente en marcas de lujo en las que por supuesto ya puse el ojo.

二手商店。
许多人认为购买二手商品不卫生，或者是二手商品条件很差，等等（诚实的说，我曾经也这么认为）但中国有几家商店，像Pawnstar，告诉了我他们处理客户的过程手续很仔细。另一个好处是，他们为客户提供大量的选择，从衣服到配饰再到鞋子。商品主要是高档品牌范围内，都是我已经想要了很长时间的商品。

Clothes Swapping Group
For sure We Chat platform (Whatsapp for China) makes it so easy to create a group of people interested in the same topic. PEWA is the leader of one of this groups focused on closet exchange in Shanghai which is done every month (I’ll add the group QR code in the bottom os this post). I’m pretty sure we could replicate this on Facebook or other platforms. Starting with our closest friends.

Intercambio de prendas
Es un hecho que We Chat (Whatsapp para China) es la mejor aplicación para crear grupos con intereses similares. Pewa es la creadora de uno de ellos enfocado en el intercambio de prendas en Shanghai y el cual se lleva a cabo mensualmente. Estoy segura que podríamos replicar esto en Facebook ó a través de otras plataformas comenzando con nuestros amigos más cercanos.

我们We Chat平台（中国最火的社交软件）可以很容易地组织对同一个话题感兴趣的一组人。 PEWA每个月都在这个平台上做壁橱交换（我会在文章底部添加微信组的QR码）。我相信我们可以在Facebook或其他平台上模仿这种方式，从我们最亲密的朋友开始。

Reinvent your own fashion
If these options are still not your thing, why not transform your own wardrobe? Create new pieces from existing ones, propose new trends, focus in the things you have liked and work on them. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover the designer in you and if not you can save money for your next trip!
