What is Farfetch?

I’m pretty sure you have heard of or see it, but don’t quite understand it right? What is Farfetch? I asked myself this question as I clicked and browsed through their pages full of designer pieces. As I was being dangerously trapped finding one piece after another, new questions popped: Can I trust this site? How does it work? etc. But not to worry, follow along to read everything you need to know.

Farfetch is an international digital platform for luxury fashion. You might think it is relatively a new brand, but in fact, they have been around for 13 years. It was founded by Portuguese José Neves in 2007. Their objective is to enable small, independent boutiques to compete in the marketplace while retaining their stores and their own visual identity. They started offering products from 25 boutiques in 5 countries and now they have more than 700 boutiques and direct brand partners in 190 countries!

Interesting Facts

• In some cities, you can have a 90-minute delivery
• They have partnered with several groups to be the luxury leading platform in places like Middle East & China
• There is an innovation partnership between Farfetch and Chanel to create a customized augmented retail experience in Chanel’s boutiques
• Farfetch went public in September 2018.

I couldn’t resist the temptation and after making my first order these are my takeaways.

Advantages

• I loved the opportunity to discover designers from all over the world, and how easy it is to have all your faves in one place.
• They have very good sales (up to 50% off!!)
• You can buy different brands (coming from different countries) and have them all in the same order paying just one shipping cost. (around 15 usd)
• They also have a Pre-owned offer. (brands like Chanel, Fendi, Miu Miu, etc.)
• They just launched their loyalty program including early sales access anniversary gifts, free shipping, etc.

Disadvantages

• You have to be patient as the app or website can be a little overwhelming at the beginning.
• As there are brands from all over the world, the fit may vary making it difficult to choose the correct size. Although you can consult their size tab, in many cases, you’ll need to do further research.
• Consider that even if you did one order, packages might not arrive all at the same time. However, they all do arrive within the time frame given.

Some extra tips

• I recommend downloading the app, you can have your wish list, filters, and favorite designers saved. That way it’s easier to have your favorite designers right on the palm of your hand, especially for sales.
• As soon as your package arrives, try the clothes on, because in case it doesn’t fit you can return them for free. JUST keep in mind that it needs to arrive back to Farfetch no later than 14 days, so it is recommended to ask for return pick up within the first 7 days after you receive it.

Una pregunta que me hice cuando comencé a navegar por sus páginas con todo tipo de piezas de diseñador. Mientras me iba atrapando peligrosamente una pieza tras otra, me hacía nuevas preguntas: Será un sitio confiable y seguro? si funcionará bien? Pues aquí les tengo todo el detalle.

Comenzaron ofreciendo productos de 25 boutiques en 5 países y ya van en productos de 700 boutiques en 190 países!

Datos Interesantes

• En algunas ciudades ya ofrecen entregas en 90 minutos
• Han hecho alianzas con algunos grupos estratégicos para ser la plataforma de lujo líder en lugares como Medio Oriente y China
• Tienen una colaboración en innovación con Chanel para crear una experiencia aumentada personalizada en las boutiques de Chanel.
• Comenzaron a cotizar en la bolsa en Septiembre del 2018.

Luego de caer en la tentación hice mi primera compra y esto fue lo que detecté.

Ventajas

• Me encanta tener la oportunidad de conocer nuevos diseñadores alrededor de todo el mundo y tener toda la info en un mismo lugar.
• Tienen rebajas increíbles (hasta 50% de descuento)
• Pueden pedir marcas diferentes y tenerlas todas bajo una misma orden pagando solo un envío (aprox. $340 mxn)
• También tienen la opción de comprar piezas pre-owned (Chanel, Fendi, Miu Miu, etc.)
• Recientemente lanzaron su programa de lealtad que incluye regalo de aniversario, acceso a ofertas un día antes, envíos gratis, etc.

Desventajas

• Hay que ser pacientes con la app o el sitio web ya que puede ser un poco abrumador tanta información al menos en un principio.
• El fit de cada marca es diferente por lo que puede ser complicado escoger la talla correcta. Aunque tienen una tabla de equivalencias en muchos casos no es suficiente y tienes que buscar un poco más de información directo en la página del diseñador
• Aunque pidas diferentes diseñadores en una sola orden puede que no todos lleguen al mismo tiempo. Lo que sí es seguro es que todos te lleguen dentro del tiempo de entrega establecido.

Extra tips

• Les recomiendo bajar la app porque pueden guardar su lista de deseos, los filtros de búsqueda y sus diseñadores favoritos. Así es mucho más fácil que tengan ya hecha su selección sobretodo para las rebajas.
• En cuanto llegue su paquete pruébense todo, porque solo tienen 14 días para devolverla gratis, solo consideren que debe llegar el paquete a Farfetch DENTRO de esos 14 días por lo que les recomiendo pidan el pick up dentro de los primeros 7 días.
