Desde que salió el trailer de Cruella quedé impactada, y sabía que me preparaba para una buena película. Poco recuerdo de la primera versión de 1996, 101 dálmatas, con Glenn Close como el personaje de Cruella de Vil. Pero te puedo decir que esta versión se va a sumar a grandes películas de moda como “Devil wears Prada”. La cantidad de referencias de moda a las que hace alusión esta película son demasiadas para quedármelas solo para mí. Prometo que no hay spoilers.
El vestuario estuvo a cargo de la ganadora del oscar Jenny Beavan. Se hicieron 47 looks para Cruella, interpretada por Emma Stone y poco más de 80 looks si contamos también los de la Baronesa interpretada por Emma Thomson. Algo pocas veces visto en el cine, pero necesario para esta película porque tiene a otra protagonista: La moda, y la guerra entre dos bandos, lo clásico y lo nuevo.
Ever since Cruella’s movie trailer came out, I was shocked and I knew I was preparing for a good movie. I have little memory of the first version of 1961, 101 Dalmatians, starring Glenn Close as Cruella de Vil character. But, I can tell you this new version is going to be part of big fashion movies like “Devil wears Prada”. The number of fashion references are too many and I could not keep them just for myself. I promise there are no spoilers.
All the movie wardrobe was in charge of Oscar winner Jenny Beavan. There were 47 costumes for Cruella, played by Emma Stone, and just over 80 outfits if we also count those of the Baroness played by Emma Thomson. This amount of looks are not common in films, but necessary in Cruella because there was another protagonist: Fashion, and the war between two sides, the classic and the new.

Cruella por otro lado habla sobre la moda vanguardista. Se basa en una estética bricolage, es decir, la unión de diferentes elementos de forma amateur. Podeos ver creaciones inspiradas en diseñadores como Alexander Mqueen, John Galliano y Vivianne Westwood.

The Liberty London store where Estella works did exist in real life. Also, the vintage store “2nd time around” is inspired by two real-life stores. Those were Biba and SEX by Vivianne Westwood where they had vintage and emerging designer pieces

Cómo sabes también soy apasionada de los coches y claro que tenía que compartirte que el coche de Cruella en verdad existe, el Panther de Ville hecho por Panther Westwinds.
The assistant to the Baroness was a representation of Yves Saint Laurent. He represents the transition between the two worlds. In reality, Yves Saint Laurent takes the creative direction of the Christian Dior house when he passes away. He is the one who brings a new air to the Dior house
Like you know I am also passionate about cars. So it was expected of me to share that Cruella’s car really exists, the Panther de Ville was a model made by Panther Westwinds
