Fall winter 2020 fashion trends and how to wear them

 

Amo esta temporada de desfiles porque se siente esa atmósfera creativa en todos lados. Y con esto no solo me refiero a las casas de moda que se presentan sino también a las propuestas de peinado y maquillaje de stylists, y de bloggers de moda que como yo, amamos estos días para poder usar looks aún más atrevidos y desafiantes.

Pero recuerdo que cuando comenzó a gustarme el mundo de la moda, veía las pocas pasarelas que se transmitían y era muy difícil para mi “descomponer” los looks en piezas, entender las tendencias y como podía llevarlas a mi vida diaria. Es por eso que les escribo este post sobre algunas de las principales tendencias que verán en otoño invierno 2020 y cómo llevarlas.

 

I love Fashion Week season because you can feel that creative atmosphere all over. Not only from the designers’ perspective but also from beauty stylists and fashion bloggers who like me enjoy these days to wear more extra looks.

But I remember that when I started getting more interested in the fashion world, I would look at the few runway shows transmitted on TV and it was very hard for me to “separate” each look, define the trends coming and how I could add them to my closet. This was the reason why I’m doing this post, to show you some of my favorite Fall Winter 20 trends and how to wear them. 

Monocromía vibrante

La monocromía es mi tendencia favorita hasta el momento. Aunque para algunos pareciera raro vestirse de cabeza a los pies en un mismo color, en realidad esta tendencia es común verla en negro. Poco a poco ha ido migrando de neutros a tonalidades más vibrantes (como lo hice aquí) y así mismo tu puedes incorporarla en tu día a día. No tiene que ser exactamente el mismo tono y puedes jugar con texturas para hacerlo más interesante.  

My favorite trend at the moment. Although it might seem too much to wear the same color from top to bottom, we actually see this trend in black color all the time. Little by little, it has moved to more vibrant tones (like I did here) and that’s how you can start wearing it too. The colors don’t have to be identical just similar and you can mix different textures to make it more fun.

 

Flecos flecos flecos

Esta tendencia la encontramos comúnmente en prendas de estilo western o texas, pero ahora la vemos exagerada en looks muy femeninos: vestidos, faldas de piel, gabardinas, tejidos. Entre más largos mejor. Si quieres integrar los flecos en tu closet, búscalos en piel/vinipiel o materiales con brillo y haz con ellos el punto focal de tu look manteniendo el resto de tus prendas en tonos neutros. 

We normally find this trend on western/Coachella looks. However, this time fringe is back in exaggerated yet very feminine looks: dresses, skirts, trench coats, and knits to name some. The longer the better. Look for fringe in leather/faux leather and shiny materials and make them the focal point of your look by maintaining the rest of your clothes on neutral tones. 

 

La ropa exterior como punto focal 

Las prendas exteriores cómo abrigos y sacos dejan de ser básicos y se presentan en la pasarelas tan espectaculares como los vestidos y prendas que llevan debajo. Si escoges un color liso intenso este te permitirá hacer looks monocromáticos o color blocks con el resto de tus prendas. O puedes escoger alguno con aplicaciones y  bordados e integrarlo como parte del look total, como el caso de Dior. 

Outerwear has stopped being a basic piece and it is now presented at various runway shows as spectacular as the dresses and other pieces wear below them. If you choose an intense color it will allow you to create monochromatic or color block looks. But you can also choose an embellished one and blend it with the rest of the outfit like Dior presented below.

 

Ondas 

Una tendencia que a primera vista pareciera muy romántica pero que pudimos ver en varios tamaños y con otros materiales para crear looks muy dinámicos. MaxMara los mezcla con prendas oversized para darle un toque más agresivo, mientras que Carolina Herrera los presenta extra elegantes en vestidos monocromáticos. 

Ruffles might look too romantic at first glance, but once they are combined with accessories and different materials they create all types of dynamic results. MaxMara mixed them with oversized pieces to create more aggressive looks, while Carolina Herrera presented huge and elegant ruffles for a dreamy outfit. 

 

Transparencias

En todas las pasarelas al menos vi un look con esta tendencia. Para no cruzar la delgada línea entre lo elegante y lo vulgar considera lo siguiente: escoge prendas que no sean totalmente transparentes (solo en mangas o espalda por ejemplo). Si lo son, agrega un bralette o tank top con detalles de encaje que tapen zonas estratégicas. Por último no olvides que entre más transparente una prenda tienes que mantener el resto del outfit más sobrio. 

There was not a runway show where I didn’t find sheer pieces as part of the outfit. To avoid running the risk of looking tacky you can do the following. Choose clothes with transparent materials in small areas like sleeves or at the back. If it is a totally sheer piece, then wear an embellished or lace tank top/ bralette below. Finally don’t forget that the more exposed skin the sober the rest of the outfit.
