I raise my hand for being the one with the most chapped lips always. Since I have memory I suffer from dry and sensitive lips. So I have spent quite some time trying all types of lip balms to see which ones do their job fastest and with a lasting result. Finally, I’m confident to share my top 10 best lip balms for dry lips.
The conclusion I have come with is this: There are 2 types of lip balms. The ones that stop irritation and help regenerate lip skin quicker and, the ones that maintain your lips hydrated and healthy but will take longer to heal your lips if they are chapped.
But before I share my top 10 best lip balms, I also noticed that in order to have the best results you should consider the following:
- The bigger lips, the bigger risk of having them constantly chapped since they are more exposed to external factors like air and sun. Applying a lip balm and drinking water frequently need to be a must.
- Don’t wet your lips with saliva! it will make it worst as saliva has enzymes that will dry them more.
- Matte lipsticks will tend to dry your lips, so apply lip balm before. Just keep in mind the matte effect might vary and transfer more.

10. Fresh sugar lip balm
A 2 in 1 product. A hydrating creamy balm with SPF and a touch of color. I like their color variety, from vivid satins to shimmery tints. Mine is the orchid tone and I normally use it for my everyday errands.
9. Acqua di Parma lip balm
My lips feel so smooth and luxurious after applying this. It has shea butter and vitamin C. Like all of their products, its scent leaves your lips traced with a stimulating aroma, I automatically feel on vacay transported somewhere in Europe.
8. Dr. Bronner’s lip balm.
It wouldn’t be me if I didn´t give you and organic and natural option. It has 4 “flavors” available, including a fragrance-free one, but my favorite was lemon. Absorbs relatively fast which might need more re-applications through the day
7. L’Occitane ultra-rich lip balm
Not scented, not flavored, and doesn’t leave any sticky residue. A little bit goes a long way. I love the tube lip balms that have the plastic angled tip. I do like the balm itself, it smells very natural and it feels nice and hydrating on.

6. Givenchy Le Rose Perfecto Beautifying Lip balm
Another 2 in 1 product. Combines a nourishing lip balm ( with shea butter and hyaluronic acid) that reacts with your skin Ph and also adds a glowy sheer finish. There are 4 new shades. Mine is 03 Sparkling pink and I love the vivid tone with a shimmer finish. BONUS the packaging is lovely. A slim leather case so elegant and beautiful. Perfect beauty accessory for every day.

5. Carmex
Probably the most affordable option in the market that won’t disappoint you. It covers the basic things you need, petrolatum, and SPF. Just consider as it is greasier it can make your indelible lipstick transfer.
4. Blistex Medicated Lip Balm
I usually choose this balm for days I know I’ll be outdoors as it has sun protection included. As its name says, it smells and feels like medicine ( not in a bad way) It lasts long and quickly heals your lips.
3. MartiDerm Lip Supreme Balm
This balm just arrived 2 weeks ago on a PR package but quickly got into my top 5. Its main purpose is to plump, fill, and redefine lips. But I noticed that its thick and sticky texture had made my lips recover very quickly, feel softer, and less irritated.
2. Eucerin Aquaphor ointment
At first, I tried Eucerin lip balm and it maintains my lips hydrated when they are healthy BUT when then I tried Aquaphor ointment the result was way better, faster, and very effective to heal extreme lip injuries. It’s the perfect day match for Kiehl’s balm.
1. Kiehl’s buttermask for lips (overnight)
I think this was the product that made me discover my chapped lips could finally see the light, a real solution. If you forget to apply your lip balm during the day or you love using matte lipsticks, then this is the one for you. A night treatment cream with thick texture to act during the night and repair your lips. I promise you, there are days I had woken up and I can still feel product left on my lips. It has saved my lips when they are at their worst. It’s a great cost-benefit formula.
