Día a día me fijo más en los ingredientes que contiene cada producto que me aplico en el cabello, en la piel, mi cara, etc. Pero fue hasta que asistí a un evento donde conocí la marca natural Dr Bronners que caí en cuenta que la pasta de dientes que comúnmente usamos también tiene ingredientes que pueden resultar positivos o negativos en nuestra boca y para la salud. Eso despertó mi curiosidad por investigar más y probar nuevas alternativas naturales.
Nunca me imaginé que ya habrían tantas opciones disponibles y lo diferentes que pueden llegar a ser entre sí. Les comparto mi experiencia con 3 que he probado hasta ahora.
I normally put a lot of attention to each product that I apply on my face, hair, body, etc. However, it was until I met “Dr. Bronners” brand that I realized there’s another thing I should also put attention to, toothpaste. My curiosity led me to discover there are several toothpaste substitutes already available and they can be very different between them. Here is my experience with 3 of them I have tried with Bobs until now.
TOOTHPASTE SUBSTITUTES
DR. BRONNERS
PRECIO: $180
Esta marca me tiene enamorada porque entre más investigo de ellos, más confirmo que realmente son naturales y que su ética para todo lo que hacen es destacable. (Les dejo un detalle de sus ingredientes calificados por la app think dirty)
Hay varios sabores, en general todos muy suaves. Bobs y yo probamos anís y menta y definitivo nos quedamos con menta porque la de anís es más dulce. En cuanto a consistencia es la más parecida a una pasta tradicional, pero lo que no nos gustó es que se diluye muy rápido en la boca por lo que no hace espuma y te deja la sensación de que no limpia bien (aunque si lo hace) y no te da frescura suficiente.

There are different flavors available, all of them very soft. Bobs and I tried anise and peppermint and we definitely choose the second one because the anise one is sweeter. It’s also the most similar one to traditional toothpaste in terms of consistency, but what we didn’t love is that it dilutes very fast once in your mouth and it doesn’t create foam so you don’t get the freshness and clean feeling you would get for a normal one (although it really cleans your teeth)

LUSH TOOTH BOMBS
PRECIO: alrededor de $250
El más elevado en precio, pero dura bastante. Es super práctico porque lo llevas a donde sea sin problema de que se riegue o aplaste y manche todo en la bolsa. Hay varios sabores pero escogimos el de carbón. Es el que más sentimos que verdaderamente fue blanqueando los dientes de los 3.
La pastilla al contacto con la saliva comienza a hacer espuma y aunque pareciera poco producto es más que suficiente. El único contra es que el sabor llega a ser demasiado intenso y tuvimos que mezclar con otra pasta algunos días para no cansarnos del sabor.

From the 3 toothpaste substitutes we evaluated, this was the most expensive one, but it lasts for a while. It is also very practical as you can carry it in your bag without spills and stains. There are different flavors, but we choose charcoal and it was the one we felt that best gradually whiten our teeth from all the options we tested.
Even if the tab looks small it is more than enough for a normal brush. The tab starts creating foam once it gets in contact with your saliva. The only downside is that the flavor could be too intense to use it daily, so we needed to mix with a traditional toothpaste now and then to avoid getting tired of the taste.
PROYECTO BOTÁNICO
PRECIO: $70- $110 dependiendo el tamaño
De las tres opciones, es la única hecha en México y la más económica. Me regalaron un kit que venía con el cepillo de bambú, dos pastas de dientes (menta y carbón activado pero hay más sabores) un enjuague bucal y un desodorante en crema (todo alrededor de $350 mxn) que por cierto se me hace excelente regalo! Los frascos son de cristal (super top) pero los malo es que la forma de los botes hace complicado sacar la pasta con el cepillo sin meter las manos. Adicionalmente cada integrate de la familia tendría que tener su propia pasta de dientes para evitar que todos estén metiendo el cepillo en el mismo bote mezclando bacterias. La consistencia es muy rara al menos en lo que te acostumbras porque es muy aguada y algo salada por el bicarbonato de sodio q contiene.
Sin embargo el sabor es bueno y si siento q me queda la sensación de frescura. El enjuague bucal nos encantó porque el sabor es ligero y super fresco y natural. Lo único raro pero no malo es que aplicas directamente del gotero a la boca.

This is the only option made in Mexico and the most affordable one too. I received a gift kit that included a bamboo toothbrush, two toothpaste bottles (peppermint and activated charcoal – although there are more flavors) mouth wash, and a natural cream deodorant ( all around $ 18.5
The consistency is very strange at least at the beginning because it’s very liquid and a bit salty due to the baking soda. However, the flavor is good and I do feel that freshness feeling at the end. We also loved the mouth wash because it has a very soft, natural and super fresh taste….something weird, but not bad, is that you need to apply it directly from the dropper applicator to your mouth.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Si les soy honesta, seguiremos usando las alternativas naturales pero alternadas con pastas tradicionales. Desafortunadamente ya estamos tan acostumbrados al sabor, consistencia y frescura de estas pastas q es difícil no extrañarlas.
No tenemos favorita entre estas 3 porque nos gustaron diferentes cosas de cada una. Creo que es cuestión de gustos pero espero les sirva esta reseña y se animen y probar alguna de estas opciones naturales. No olviden dejarme sus comentarios.
To be honest, we will keep using all these toothpaste substitutes but alternating them with the traditional toothpastes. Unfortunately, we are so used to the flavor, consistency, and freshness of the conventional ones that is very difficult not to miss them.
We can’t choose a favorite between the 3 because we liked different things
